Frequently Asked Questions
- Why don't companies like Northeast Utilities directly hire H1B?
They want to save money and at the same time award contracts only to companies registered in the United States. TCS and Infosys are companies legally registered in the United States. So, Northeast Utilities played safe by awarding the contract to an American (?) copany - TCS or Infosys. - Why don't companies like TCS and Infosys hire Americans instead of bringing people from abroad?
They do it because they buy cheap and sell at a higher rate. Even if these companies used to pay the market average salary to its H1B workers, it would have been hard for them to win projects as the lowest bidder. Moreover, H1Bs can't just switch jobs or complain about their low wages. These companies can easily enslave the H1B workers because a H1B worker must leave the country imminently after she loses her job.
